I found it, by luck in Gamestation. I'd only gone in Gamestation to have my usual browse of games. And found it in the pre-owned PS1 games for £25...couldn't believe my luck. Also bought Bad Taste for £2.99 and TH2 for £1.99 from there.

Talking of expensive preowned games. The Ico situation is silly. I saw a preowned copy of Ico for £40 in gamestation.

They're re-releasing, supposedly. Is it really as good as everybody likes to say it is?

I played a demo, and all it involved was a little platforming and a boy hitting ghosts with a stick...

I played the demo...didn't have a clue what to do half the time, not exactly the most obvious of gameplaying hints in game.

I've never even seen Ico apart from a few screenshots in a mag.

it is akin to a moving piece of art, it is very good, sure the gameplay can at times be confusing, and at others dull. But it is still a fantastic game

How come nobody else has mentioned Soul Reaver? Am i the only one who rates it ??

That was a good game. Quite difficult that you had to switch realms to be able to do anything sometimes.

Soul Reaver is in a box in my attic. It was enjoyable and added some interesting gameplay ideas, but I think its existence in the relative infancy of fully 3D gaming ruined the game somewhat; I found it hard to develop a real link with the game. Slaughtering the Victorian/Tudor proles in the village was good fun though.

I've managed to cure the FF7 freezing up thingy, but it takes about half an hour to load battles which makes me quite edgy... is this normal? :/ I haven't had any experience of loading times since I play my sister's C64.

It's not normal at all and the only thing i know to recommend is playing it on a PS2 as they dont seem to have as much trouble with old PSX discs. If that doesnt work maybe someone else will post a better suggestion.

Alright, so maybe half an hour was a bit of an exaggeration... but it's at least 20 seconds or so sometimes. And then during some of the battles, it just seems to stop for no apparent reason before starting itself up again. :/ I doubt I could persuade Dave to lend me his PS2 since he's enamoured with Smackdown VS Raw 2006 at the moment. ¬_¬;

It's about right for a f**ked PS. Mine does that on certain FF games now. Sadly, there's little you can do.

Claire, you think you have problems. Every time I want to play Silent Hill 4 on my PS2, I have to put lens cleaner thru at least 5 times and press reset about 20 before it decides to load. Thats at least half an hour before I even get to play the bloody game.

My Xbox is like that. I gave up on it.

Just as a word of note has anyone else noticed how reliable Sega's optical drives were? My MegaCD, Saturn and Dreamcast have never had any disc read problems. Nor have they needed a lens cleaner at any time. Speaking of damaged discs: Once at work we had a spare copy of Virtua Fighter on the Saturn lying around so we took a pair of scissors to it and scratched it all over. Of course it played perfectly! To further push the point I then took the same scissors and cut into the disc outside to centre. Scarily the game STILL played though the music was botched up

Well, it's not decided bit to load any discs at all now... I think I'll be going down to Smack Generator or something tomorrow to see if I can get a cheap second hand one.
And then make Dave give me the money for it. *cackles*

Dreamcasts were notorious for having problems reading *ahem* burned CDs. But provided the disc is fairly full, a Dreamcast won't even flinch at it.

I'm at the end of disc 3. Stupidly, I stopped playing at the bit where you have to find the white ship. I've no idea HOW I'm going to find it after such a long period off.

I think sadly its only a matter of time before my poor old PS2 ends up like a friend of mines. His can only play PS1 games.
