It's retro! It's three generations old now (four, if you believe the bizarre claims that the Xbox and GC are a generation above the PS2)!
I've made friends with the chap in a local shop, and now every time I go in he gives me a pile of PS games to look at and select from before he prices them up, £1 each. Me being skint doesn't seem to bother him, but I picked up Bloody Roar, Civilisation II, Driver 2, and Syphon Filter 2 today. I also scored Resident Evil 3: Nemesis before Christmas, but since I took the money to pay for it out of my mum's change she decided it should be a Christmas present.
I know for a fact that my collection of PlayStation games is in triple figures now. Madness. But what a console, eh?

Well done with Syphon Filter 2. It's the best of the series, and a great game. =] I salute you Driver 2 and Resi 3 are good as well.

Unfortunately a lot of PS1 games have aged more in the graphics department than the 16-Bit 2D games of the Snes/Megadrive era, there are many classics which are still awesome to play though.. D.J's PS1 games ------------------- Ridge Racer (TYPE 4 YOU FOOL - Jamie) Destruction Derby *great* Theme Park *good* Formula 1 Doom Wipeout 2097 *good* Parappa The Rapper *excellent* Toca Touring Cars Newman Haas Racing Tomb Raider Final Fantasy 7 *brilliant* Final Fantasy 8 Final Fantasy 9 *fantastic* Bomberman Final Fantasy 6 *great* Toca 2: Touring Cars Formula 1 '97 *superb* Grand Theft Auto Theme Hospital TekkenTekken 2[Tekken 3. Stop posting older versions of games which are worse! ] Die Hard Trilogy Destruction Derby 2 and a few others too i'm sure

Actually, I might be going off on a complete tangent here, but it seems the best place to ask...
Basically, my boyfriend being the big FF WANGRA that he is INSISTED that I borrow his PS and play FF7. So, I am... and here is the problem. Basically, I'm at that part after you rescue *spit* Aeris (What? She pisses me off.) from the ShinRa building, and that president guy has been stabbed. Everytime I attempt to battle that robot thingy in the lifts after leaving Tifa to wait for Cloud the game always, always, ALWAYS freezes, either just before the battle starts (the music changes but the screen is just black) or a few turns into the battle, usually after someone uses bolt a few times on it. o_0
Is this a glitch in the game, or is the machine and/or the disc just screwed? (This isn't my first attempt to play it mind, the first time round I managed to get as far as the Chocobo Ranch thingy place without incident, then the memory card mysteriously ate my save. ¬_¬)
Maybe I'm just not meant to play this game...

Mine glitches on FF8. Old game, old console. To get past the glitch bit in that game, I turned the console upside down and placed it in my lap. It seemed to have no problems then. If you've no inhibitions about such things, you could try that.

Worth a shot. My boyfriend told me to open the machine up, stop the disc from spinning and then close it again, but that seems to be a bit hit and miss.

My PS1 had to be turned up on it's side to get it to work, aaaaah, the joys of Sony consoles.

turning it upside down aleays did the trick for me, plus it stopped my cats at the time walking over the console always managing to to hit the power button.

Because you don't play them enough (/don't throw them in dusty attics for long periods of time).

I've got a 15 year old SNES that's taken plenty of batterings over the years and still works as good as the day I got it. Maybe PSeseses are just crap.

My Super NES died in 1996, no reason for this was ever discovered and the case remains open.

My Super NES died in 1996, no reason for this was ever discovered and the case remains open. Tut, you shouldn't have opened the SNES's case in the first place! Joke. I've found that the Nintendo consoles I've owned (Gameboy Pocket, Gamecube, DS) have held up much stronger than others, in fact the only non-Nintendo console I haven't had any trouble with has been my Neo Geo Pocket Color.

The demo of Tombi was fun, wonderfully styled, and long enough for me to develop a resonance with the game. Sadly, the retail version proved harder to find. Anybody fancy burning me a copy of theirs?
