So, Apple have announced a new phone. So what? It's an ipod, phone and internet device in one. Well, I think it looks pretty nice personally, but it's going to cost a bomb. I can imagine you can guess all of its features, although these (the last 2 in particular, as the first is available on digi cams anyway) quite impressed me: www.apple.com/iphone

Nice piece of kit, but *WAAAY* too expensive....$499 for the basic model ( $599 for the upgraded model). Plus it's bound to be a 3G phone, so calls are gonna cost an arm and a leg too. I'll be sticking with my Nokia 3300, plays MP3s off an MMC card which is all I need. TTFN - Pete.

I use the sony ericson w 810i with a gig memory stick in it.... I've been considering one of these to replace my aging '3300, but can't seem to get a straight answer to a simple question.... The 810 has an integrated FM radio, yes? Can you record directly from the radio to the memory card ( it's a make or break feature for me as I use that facility a lot on my Nokia)? Also, what music formats does it play - Sony have a long history of not supporting MP3 on many of their previous digital music players? Thanks. TTFN - Pete.

My phone is 3G and my calls are dirt cheap. How cheap is cheap though? At the moment I pay 5p/min evenings & weekends ( used to be 2p before the "3G Wars"), which is right at the upper limit of what I'm prepared to pay. The mobile companies have been ripping us off for years, there's no earthly reason ( apart from blatant profit-mongering) why mobile calls ( excluding 3G, though even those could be subsidised) should be any more expensive than calls you make on your landline nowadays. How cheap/reliable are videocalls now? I know early adopters were paying in the region of 70p/min!!! TTFN - Pete.

No you can't recored striaght from the radio.... Damn, it's looking more and more like that feature is unique to Nokia. Thanks, wasn't aware that they played "WMA"s too ( not that I've got any, LOL). Many of Sony's recent MP3 players were claiming "MP3 compatability", but that amounted to having the software which loaded them onto the device convert them to their proprietary "ATRAC" format "on the fly".... Ah well, the search continues. TTFN - Pete.

600 or 750mins (can't remember) 2000 texts about an hour of video calls 50 mms messages and £5 of downloads from the 3 store for £15 a month Have never gone out of my allowance, so have no idea what the call charges are regularly.

3G phones are shite anyway, completely overated etc as an unfortunate sole that got stuck with the beasty you could build housesd with these, rotaty camera 3g fones, for 2 years, i would have to agree! The top up rates aim to confuse and the internet access is a joke, the appliacations are hard to run and the phone is generally a pain in the arse.... mine developed the rather irritating habbit of vibrating, telling me i have a text message, and then just....not showing it....atol....anywhere!!! but i digress.....
