I was thinking, is the way i have my broadband set up weird? It's just i keep hearing about having it connected to the phone line 24/7 and to me that's bollocks. I connect and disconnect from Broadband just like i used to with dial up and when i disconnect, the modem is unplugged and i put it away. The thing is that because of this, there is no way i will have my Wii online all the time like it was suggested and so does this mean that the way i do things is truly bizarre?

No, that's pretty normal (aside from unplugging the modem and all).
But, using a wii online woukld probably mean using a router, and routers don't need to be plugged into a computer to connect. They dial up once they're turned on and only disconnect when they're turned off. That way you're connection can be on 24 hours a day.

You're all strange. Mine connects without me doing anything, hence why I have to have MSN set to log in as "Offline". Computer constantly connected to internet, AS MODERN LIFE DICTATES.
My Wii, plus my router, plus some kind of miniature solar power generator to offset the energy expended, equals "on all the time" fun.

Sarah's mum got a solar panel\wind turbine from these people, they were really good, or so I am told. www.navitron.org.uk/As for the unpluging the modem, well there is nothing wrong with that, don't forget D.J. has a laptop, bar the extra wear and tear it causes I can see nothing wrong with it, but you will be better off getting a wireless router, Belkin do a good one, that I use, and I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure Harold has the same Belkin router. One advantage of a router is that you never have to wait to connect, wireless is built right into it so you don't have to waste power by having your pc on at the same time to play with your Wii or DS. And usb modems are slightly slower, and use up more or your prosessors power than a simple wired or wireless ethernet connection.

What? Someone had to lower the tone. Looking at solar power now. Sometimes I think life would be easier if I weren't just a dirty hippy.
