On friday, Ayumi sent me a package (yay), in it she sent me a fantastic CD single but also a PC CD-R on which she added some music files for me to listen to. Now normally when we send each other music from our PC's the songs are either burned onto a CD-R or uploaded onto one as WMA files. Unfortunately with the CD Ayu sent me this time, it seems that her PC would not allow her to save them as WMA's and so they were put on the CD as .OMG files....
OMG is short for Open MG, a type of digital music file that is almost entirely exclusive to Sony and used on some of its products. Now, when i tried to play the CD i found (obviously) Media Player and Quicktime would not run them....
So.....
Firstly i downloaded Winamp which a reliable source told me was compatible with .OMG's as he had it and it was fine. Anyway once i downloaded it i found that my files did'nt work as to get the OMG compatible version i would have to fork out £15 instead of downloading a free one like i did...
Sod that...
After several long and tiring websearches i finally came across part of Sony's website which allowed me to download a program called OMG Jukebox. This download however was a whopping 56MB!!!! So to do it i downloaded yet another program, but this one was called the Getright Download Manager which allowed me to download, stop, login the next day and continue the download from where i left it which on a 56k connection was very useful .
2 days later....
After several marathon download sessions, i finally got my grubby mitts on OMG Jukebox , excitement built as i installed it and put in my CD and guess what?...
THE BLOODY PLAYER WOULD NOT PLAY MY MUSIC AS THE FILES DID NOT CONTAIN COPYRIGHT INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAMN YOU SONY!!! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!!!!
