sorry im going with the psp it dosn't mean i don't like the DS its just i would prefer to get that ill end up having both anyway aaaah the joys of having a good payed job for my age. and besides the psp does not have four hour battery life with a game it has about 6 hours on a single charge playing a game. Actually it depends how much it streams data from the disc, the more the disc needs to whirr and load data off it, the lower the batt life. it could go down to anything around 2 hours. GD will explain better (obviously)

no need to take it personally i think every system has there good points and there bad points its just personal prefrence. and i do understand about data being streamed from the umd anyway a hand held is only for short bursts of gaming really. and i know someone is going to come up wit somthing against this. so i shouldn't have really bothered typing this waste of time and energy

that half of that claimed 6 hour battery life is loading screens lol....thats true, but the gameplay is still awesome. Seriously though, the load times arent THAT bad.... I mean, this is the only time I would go for something Sony over Nintendo....I am SO a Nintendo WANGRA, and Im saying that the psp is better.... I mean, come on, the only thing that really sucks about it is the $100 Memory Sticks

And the lack any games worth owning. And the fact you look like a massive tosser if you use it for portable music. And the people who seem to lust after it in shops in Liverpool are teenage boys in tracksuits.

I'll sell you mine for a nominal fee when I get a coloured one. (Is it racist to refer to them as "coloured"?)

I'd vote for both if I could, I have no problem against either of them. Perhaps I should have abstained?
Here's some trivia! It's fairly well known that Sony have restricted the hardware to 222mhz rather than 333mhz. But It would seem they intend to remove this limit once higher capacity batteries become commonly available and cost effective. I of course have manually removed the limit already which unsurprisingly removes some slowdown (lookin at you Burnout). Sony of course will slap me with a firmware update if I get GTA and stop me enjoying accelerated play.
As for the excessive battery consumption and load times due to UMD drive access... Well, lets just say not for me.

Eric was gutted when his firmware was accidently updated to 2.01, now he can't play emulators and stuff. Also I am now going to look for a SCUMM emulator for my DS

SCUMM?
I've been looking at DS mods. I don't think it's me, yet. Various things have tempted me, like DS Linux with a PC keyboard plugged into a modded cart (attractively unattractive, and quite pointless if truth me known, but just the thought of it made me smile.)
Oh God, I haven't turned on my DS all day. The dogs are going to be so disappointed.

Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion Basicly the game engine used for Manic Mansion, the Monkey Island series, Day of the Tenticle and Sam and Max plus a fair amount of other games and even some non Lucasarts games. Edit: ok here is a list of suported games www.scummvm.org/compatibility.phpAnd DCemu.co.uk has a DS SCUMM emulator that apparently works very well, though I have yet to try it myself.

SCUMM is a great little program. Runs perfect on the PSP too. Out of curiousity, what do you use as a storage method for SCUMM/games on the DS? Is an expensive little cartridge necessary?

Not really expensive as such, I have a 512mb GBA flash cart already (which cost a fair bit orriginaly), but I wanted something that I could upgrade with time so have gotten a supercard flash cart (GBA slot) that takes CF cards (plus there are adaptors to change CF slots into any other slot you want) and a super passkey (DS slot) to allow me to boot homebrew stuff. The super passkey was dirt cheap off ebay, as was the flash cart, and I had a couple of CF cards about the place.
So in total the super passkey was £6 and the flash cart with a 128mb card was £27.

I already knew that of course, but being an idiot i'd forgotten the DS would be compatible with such GBA devices

one thing I hope SCUMM suports is the stylus, think about it, it is the perfect companion for point and click adventures I really aught to load it up.
