Magazines - argh Books! - argh both. Books I guess (though prior to the internet I would have said magazines) In case anyone was worried about my absence I have good reason: Got assaulted on sat night and now have a broken nose and lost a large chunk of my front teeth. Headbutting git! Might get compensation though Should get my nose straightened later this week and had my teeth sorted yesterday. Elbow to face or Headbutt to face? (Both using supreme force)

If its what I'd rather had done to me then... probably the headbutt - as the force is spread out over a larger surface area thus the pressure is less (Pressure = force divided by area) It's simple physics guys (as a holiday) France or Spain? p.s: sorry to hear about what happened to you Matt; sounds horrible. Get better soon

Get better soon But as it hit the nose it hit a smaller surface area which acording to your calculations makes the impact more severe Anyway back to the game Countach or Diablo (If you don't know what I mean you weren't ever and prob never will be a Car fan )

You might be right in the amount of damage caused due to the widespread effect of the blow, but the elbow would exert more pressure. (Sorry to talk about you like this Matt ;D) Sorry, I have no answer to thew question

UT2003, it runs on my computer oh, and the headbutt thing? chances are, the forces wouldn't be 500N each, because the elbow would pick up some acceleration whilst it was being swung in an arc. For example- a bucket with a little less than 1l of water weighs 1kg (about 10N). When it's swung round, the centrifugal force acting on it increases the weight to 3kg (30N), so i guess although a headbutt canes coz it pushes stuff all over the place, the elbow would cause more serious damage due to the concentration of force in a small area with little flesh to cushion the blow. Also, with an elbow, the force can be applied all the way through the arm, whilst with a headbutt the way to get the most force would be to align your spine with your head.... i think.... but either would hurt like hell....
